The California Wheat Commission is seeking applications for the organization’s Executive Director. The California Wheat Commission is in place to develop and maintain domestic and international markets for California wheat and support research that improves California wheat quality and marketability. The Commission, operating under the California Food and Agriculture Code, is funded by wheat growers and is guided by a board of fifteen wheat farmers, two handlers - each with an alternate member and one public member. California wheat production covers over 740,000 acres.
MAJOR AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Executive Director is the California Wheat Commission’s Chief Executive Officer, business manager, information liaison, and advisor. The Executive Director implements and continuously evaluates the policies, activities and legislative intent of the California Wheat Commission. The Executive Director has the primary and shared responsibility for areas such as strategy development and execution, management, product and program development, distribution channel development, public relations, marketing communication, market research and constituent service. The Executive Director is the principal representative in all matters of the California Wheat Commission
Qualifications: We are looking for an energetic person with a track record of association and board management. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required. 5-7 years experience in the following areas: management of a board and organization, public speaking, budget preparation and implementation, accounting, staff oversight and management. Demonstrated skills in marketing, research and public relations. Ability to be successful working flexibly in a fast-paced, complex domestic and international marketing environment. Demonstrated skill in written and oral communication with private industry, government agencies and international clientele. Skill in building highly motivated, service based staff. Agriculture background preferred.
Salary is commensurate with experience. Competitive compensation package. References will be required.

Position Available: Terminal Manager
Purpose: Responsible for meeting the business goals of the company by helping to manage the staff, customers, productivity, and safety of the Terminal.
Essential duties of the Terminal Manager include and are not limited to:
Budget analysis and preparation; project and staff management; staff recruitment and training per HSE and company-wide policies and procedures. Other duties include coordinating and providing oversight to customer service activities, customer and regulatory audits and inspections, inventories, special projects assigned by management and general efficiency of the Terminal’s processes. In performing these duties the Terminal Manager will work in concert with regional staff, the Director of Sales, VP of Operations, Human Resources, and the HSES department.
Candidates are to be proactive and maintain a professional communicative relationship with all personnel and co-workers. Additionally, candidates must possess excellent reading comprehension and writing skills accompanied by proficiency in Microsoft Office software. Ability to multitask and provide effective management is crucial to success in this position. Also, this position is fairly physical requiring a candidate to stand, walk, sit, stoop and climb, reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, feel, and use tools and office equipment and communicate. This position involves standing/bending/stooping for approximately 30% of the workday. Frequently, the employee is required to kneel, bend, crawl, crouch, push, pull, lift, or twist. Occasionally, the employee is required to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds.

A minimum of one year experience in terminal management or related terminal, refinery, or tank vessel experience and knowledge in operating equipment is preferred.

SAFETY/RISK MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION:
Initiates, develops, implements and enforces employment policies, practices, work rules and procedures in conformance with legal requirements throughout the entire organization.
Maintains awareness of the latest industrial safety practices, evaluates these practices applicable to the company, and makes recommendations for their implementation. Is responsible for the appropriate dissemination of safety information to all levels of the organization.
Creates, plans, coordinates, directs, manages and enforces the company's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) to evaluate and control environmental hazards and to help ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.
Prepares written safety programs and reports, reviews written plans annually, and updates where necessary. Maintains safety files and records.
Develops and implements specific workplace programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices. Arranges, or develops and conducts workplace training to instruct supervisors and workers.
Assists supervisors to understand regulatory standards, including technical assistance on safety and health. Trains and counsels employees to obtain compliance with regulations and enforces use of safety equipment.
Coordinates inspections of facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
Facilitates the correction of working conditions and provides assistance to employees in reducing risks and accidents using knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics and safety standards; develops loss‑control programs; and devises methods to evaluate safety programs.
Recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents & illness in an effort to control accident and health exposures in the company and minimize OSHA citations.
Investigates and prepares accident reports, maintains records for all business related incidents and compiles and submits reports for insurance carrier or regulatory agency as required.
Oversees the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time. Prepares reports regarding workers' compensation and maintains OSHA and company records concerning both reportable and non-reportable illnesses and injuries.
Monitors CAL-OSHA standards so that proposed and accepted rule changes can be reviewed at management meetings.
In conjunction with department supervisors, monitors the effectiveness of safety policies in each department and initiates changes or, in the case of policy items, recommends changes and helps to set priorities in regards to all company safety work rules. Prepares reports concerning recommendations to management.
